Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has held a phone call with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, who congratulated Azerbaijan on the significant outcomes of the recent Washington summit with Armenia, calling it a major step toward lasting regional peace.
Both ministers underscored the importance of the agreement and Joint Declaration signed by the Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders in the presence of US President Donald Trump, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
They highlighted the documents as pivotal for promoting regional stability and fostering long-term cooperation.
The two officials also emphasized the significance of the initialed peace agreement and the joint appeal by Armenia and Azerbaijan to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group and its affiliated structures. They expressed confidence that this move would help accelerate the peace process and voiced hope that the OSCE would soon adopt a corresponding decision.
In addition to the peace process, the ministers reviewed key aspects of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, including cooperation within regional and international organizations.
