World Leaders Express Condolences to Azerbaijan Following Plane Crash

World leaders have expressed their condolences to Azerbaijan following the crash of an Embraer 190 aircraft operating flight J2-8243 from Baku to Grozny, The Caspian Post reports citing Azertac.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, Aleksandar Vučić, President of the Republic of Serbia, Sadyr Zhaparov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus, Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Sergey Melikov, Head of the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation, along with officials from various states and governments, representatives of international organizations, and the Organization of Turkic States, shared their sympathies. They expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives and wished a swift recovery to the injured, with many leaders conveying their messages via social media.

Earlier it was reported that Embraer 190 aircraft, operating Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243 en route from Baku to Grozny crashed 3 km away from Kazakhstan’s Aktau.

67 people, including 5 crew members were onboard the Azerbaijani Airlines plane at the moment of the crash. According to the preliminary data of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 37 nationals of Azerbaijan, 6 nationals of Kazakhstan, 3 nationals of Kyrgyzstan and 16 nationals of the Russian Federation were onboard of the crashed aircraft.

52 rescuers and 11 units of equipment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan arrived at the scene of the plane crash in Aktau. Those who survived the plane crashed were rushed to local hospitals.

4 bodies were recovered at the site of the plane crash.
