Kazakhstan and Hungary Strengthen Filmmaking Cooperation

Kazakhstan and Hungary held discussions on strengthening cooperation in the filmmaking industry and agreed to implement joint projects, according to the Kazakh Embassy in Budapest, The Caspian Post reports citing Kazinform.

The issue was discussed at a meeting of Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Hungary Abzal Saparbekuly with Csaba Kael, Head of the National Film Institute of Hungary, Government Commissioner for the Development of the Hungarian Film Industry.

“Film production has risen to a new level in Kazakhstan today; interest in national cinema is growing. Our country is ready for comprehensive cooperation in filmmaking industry development to bring it to an international level," the Kazakh Ambassador said.

According to Csaba Kael, Hungary has become Europe's second filmmaking center after Great Britain, with 124 years of expertise. There are five major studio complexes in the country, with expansion projects now underway.

It is noteworthy that Hungary has emerged as a preferred filming location for numerous Hollywood productions, with notable examples including Evita (1996), The Da Vinci Code (2006), The Martian (2015), Blade Runner 2049 (2017), Red Sparrow (2018), Inferno (2016), and Dune (2021).
