Popular Russian Band's Concert Canceled in Istanbul After Public Backlash

Concerts by the Russian band Slaughter to Prevail and the Polish band Behemoth in Turkey have been canceled due to the artists’ stage attire.

According to authorities in Istanbul’s Beşiktaş district, both performances were scheduled to take place at the Zorlu PSM arts center, The Caspian Post reports, citing Russian media.

The Russian band was set to perform on February 10, followed by the Polish band the next day. However, the events were called off after a negative reaction from local activists.

In a statement, the district administration said the concerts had “provoked a negative reaction due to incompatibility with our social values,” adding that concerts, festivals, and other events at the Zorlu PSM venue would be prohibited for two days.

Venue representatives also confirmed that ticket holders will receive refunds in line with standard procedures and conditions.
