Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee Shahin Baghirov met with an Iranian delegation headed by Foroud Asgari, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance and Head of the Customs Administration, in Bilasuvar on July 30.
According to the committee, during the meeting, the participants discussed expanding practical customs cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran, The Caspian Post reports.
The talks covered ensuring the coordinated movement of vehicles through border checkpoints, introducing electronic data exchange, improving operational efficiency, and advancing the coordinated development of future bilateral cooperation.
The two sides also reviewed ways to simplify transit procedures, including increasing the capacity of border crossings to enable faster passage of freight vehicles traveling between Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic via Iranian territory. They also outlined measures aimed at implementing these initiatives.
At the end of the meeting, the Azerbaijani and Iranian representatives signed a cooperation protocol.
Following the talks, the delegations visited the customs and border checkpoint facilities operating in Bilasuvar.
