Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers, visited the Tosh-Kutchu area to inspect the progress of tunnel construction for the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project.
Kasymaliev was briefed on the ongoing construction work. China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project runs along the Torugart-Arpa-Kosh-Dobo-Makmal-Jalal-Abad route (304.94 km), The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
The Torugart-Makmal section (160 km) uses a 1435 mm gauge, while the section from Makmal to Jalal-Abad (145 km) uses a 1520 mm gauge.
The transshipment station and the potential creation of a logistics center are planned near Makmal. 5,695 pieces of equipment and over 5,000 people are involved. The work has begun on 18 tunnels (out of 29). The construction has begun on 17 of 50 bridges and 28 of 602 culverts.
Kasymaliev emphasized the importance of high-quality implementation of this strategic infrastructure project.
