Kazakhstan-Georgia Freight Traffic Hits 4.5 Million Tons

Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and his Georgian counterpart Irakli Kobakhidze discussed cooperation in the transit and transport sphere in Astana.

In his speech, Bektenov outlined the key role the transit and transport sphere plays in the Kazakh-Georgian cooperation, as both countries offer the shortest routes from Europe to China and Southeast Asia, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

It’s encouraging that Kazakhstan and Georgia actively cooperate within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, as freight traffic reaches 4.5 million tons, increasing 62% on-year or almost 5fold since 2021, said the Kazakh Premier.

Bektenov stressed the Kazakh government’s readiness to continue multifaceted work to ensure dynamic development of partnership in all areas.

As earlier reported, Kazakhstan and Georgia are to ramp up mutual trade.
