Russian and US postal operators have agreed to resume the delivery of mail and parcels to Russia through transit routes in third countries, according to Russian Post.
According to the state postal operator, imports from the US resumed at the end of May, allowing postal items from the US to be received again through Russian Post, The Caspian Post reports, citing TASS.
The first shipment of parcels has already arrived in Russia.
Russian Post said deliveries are being transported on transit flights through third countries using existing logistics arrangements.
A source familiar with the market told TASS that deliveries had previously been handled through express carriers, whose coverage network in the United States was limited. The resumption of the suspended import service is expected to make deliveries available across the entire country, the source added.
