Armenia is committing a serious violation of international law by not ensuring the return of Western Azerbaijanis to their homeland, Samir Bejanov, the head of the International Security Department of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said during a hearing on the safe and dignified return to Western Azerbaijan held in Milli Majlis, The Caspian Post reports citing Report.
According to Bejanov, international documents and norms regarding refugees support ensuring the rights of Western Azerbaijanis:
"International legal acts support refugees' return not only to their own state but also to the territories where they once lived. Armenia, as the successor state in the territory where Western Azerbaijanis lived, must ensure their rights."
