Tajikistan is satisfied with the level of development of relations with Russia, Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon said at talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Leningrad Region.
"Russia is Tajikistan’s key strategic partner. In general, we are satisfied with the pace of development [of relations with Russia] in all areas," he said, The Caspian Post reports, citing TASS.
According to Rakhmon, the year 2024 was very beneficial for both countries. "Russia is Tajikistan’s key trade-and-economic partner, with bilateral trade growing up by 20% and cultural and humanitarian ties developing actively," he said.
The Tajik leader said that he wants to discuss with Putin other issues on the bilateral agenda, as well as international and regional problems and security issues. "I think we will sum up the results today and tomorrow. We have much to discuss, especially issues of regional and global security. You know where Tajikistan is locates and which problems [arise]," he noted.
The talks between the two presidents are being held at the Igora resort in the Leningrad Region.
Last time, the two presidents met at the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Astana in November.
