Türkiye to Build 198-Satellite Network to Rival Starlink

Türkiye is set to develop a national satellite network designed to serve as a domestic alternative to the US-based Starlink system.

The satellite network, called Astralink, will consist of 198 low-Earth-orbit satellites, according to Kommersant.

The first Astralink satellites are expected to be launched into orbit within the next two years.

Turkish defense and technology company ASELSAN officially announced the project at the International Astronautical Congress.

The initiative is expected to expand Türkiye’s capabilities in satellite communications and strengthen its domestic space infrastructure.
