Turkish air carrier Pegasus Airlines has completed the acquisition of Czech Airlines and the Smartwings Group after securing all necessary regulatory approvals.

Following the acquisition, the combined number of aircraft in the two airlines’ fleets has exceeded 175, while their total aircraft orders have reached 140, The Caspian Post reports, citing Anadolu Agency.

The completion of the transaction marks a significant milestone in Pegasus Airlines’ international expansion and the future growth of Smartwings Group, opening a new phase of expansion in Europe.

The strategic partnership brings together two established aviation companies with complementary strengths and a shared goal of long-term growth. Pegasus has made air travel accessible to millions of passengers since adopting a low-cost business model in 2005.

Pegasus operates one of the world’s youngest and most fuel-efficient fleets, serving 161 destinations across 57 countries.

Smartwings Group, which operates in leisure-focused air transportation, is among the established airline groups in Central and Eastern Europe, along with the CSA brand.

The group has a significant presence in the region’s aviation market, with a flight network covering 80 destinations across 20 countries and partnerships with leading tour operators.

Combining the strengths and experience of the two airlines is aimed at creating a stronger structure for long-term growth and generating new opportunities for passengers, employees and business partners.

Smartwings will continue operating under its existing brand, maintaining its daily operations, customer relations and service delivery.

The company is also expected to gain new opportunities in innovation, development and talent enhancement.
