Armenia will not participate in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) meetings scheduled in Astana on November 28, according to Viktor Vasilyev, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the CSTO.
Despite this, Armenia has no objections to the adoption of the planned documents during the sessions, Vasilyev noted, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenian media.
The upcoming meetings in Astana will include a joint session of the CSTO’s Foreign Ministers Council, Defense Ministers Council, and the Security Council Secretaries Committee, followed by the Collective Security Council summit.
Vasilyev confirmed, “Unfortunately, our Armenian colleagues have declined to attend the event in person. However, they have no objections to the adoption of all documents scheduled for approval, even in a limited format.”
The meetings will cover key issues related to military and political situations in the CSTO’s collective security regions, evaluate the progress of cooperation, and discuss future strategies. The 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War will also be a major topic of discussion. Furthermore, the Kyrgyz Republic is set to present its priorities for chairing the CSTO in 2025.
