Azerbaijan, China, and the US Host a Joint Plenary on Greenhouse Gases

The meeting highlighted the purpose of the Summit, the importance of building consensus and momentum around the COP29 plan to raise ambition, enable action, communicate to all stakeholders and demonstrate clear political will.

Co-organized by Azerbaijan, China and the United States of America, a plenary session on methane and other Non-CO2 greenhouse gases was held within COP29, The Caspian Post reports.

The meeting highlighted the purpose of the Summit, the importance of building consensus and momentum around the COP29 plan to raise ambition, enable action, communicate to all stakeholders and demonstrate clear political will.

The meeting also focused on key actions to reduce near-term warming and keep a goal of limiting global average temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius within reach.

Mukhtar Babayev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, President of COP29, touched on the importance of such a plenary meeting with the US and China. The minister underscored the significance of cooperation in the fight against climate change.
