Baku hosted “The Power of Collaboration: Unifying forces for Net-Zero” high-level panel session on Wednesday jointly organized by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy, Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), and the World Economic Forum on the margins of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, The Caspian Post reports.
Addressing the event, Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, outlined the principles covering the joint efforts to combat climate change, global policy pursued on this track, as well as the contributions of the private sector.
He also shared insights on Azerbaijan’s progress and plans regarding the continuing growth and green economy.
In his remarks, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization stressed the importance of aligning global trade policies with climate change, underscoring the importance of supporting the developing states in this regard.
Other speakers also included Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Uzbekistan, Gim Huay Neo, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum, Rich Lesser, Global Chairman of the Boston Consulting Group, and Andrew Forrest, Executive Chairman of the Fortescue Company.
They stressed the significance of the joint global efforts to find solutions to climate crisis.
