Kazakhstan to Continue Oil Deliveries to Europe via Druzhba Pipeline"s Second Line

The Kazakh Ministry of Energy confirmed that scheduled oil deliveries from Kazakhstan to Europe will proceed via the second line of the Druzhba pipeline, which remains fully operational despite recent damage to a section of the pipeline in Poland.

"Pumping through the damaged line was halted. Oil deliveries continued along the second line. The technical capacity of the second line fully supports oil pumping," the ministry said, The Caspian Post reports, citing TASS.

"As of November 2024, the delivery of Kazakh oil to this direction was completed according to the schedule. The planned shipment for December is expected to take place between December 20 and 30, 2024," it noted.

On December 1, an accident occurred on a section of the Druzhba pipeline in the vicinity of Pniewo in Western Poland. No fires or explosions were recorded, and the segment was deemed safe for repairs. The personnel of PERN, the Druzhba oil pipeline operator in Poland, identified the source of the leak and started working to fix it. The cause of the incident is not yet known. The company promised to launch a probe.

Earlier, Russian company Transneft informed TASS that oil transportation to Germany is proceeding according to plan, and the company has has made good on its transport obligations in Russia and Belarus. Kazakhstan supplies oil to Germany via Druzhba, with 1.4 mln metric tons planned to be sent there this year. Through October of this year, 1.2 mln metric tons have been supplied. Next year, another 1.2 mln metric tons are scheduled to be transported.
