Kyrgyzstan and Saudi Arabia Mull $330 Million in Joint Projects

The 4th meeting of the Kyrgyzstan-Saudi Arabia Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee took place in Bishkek, chaired by First Deputy Chairman Adylbek Kasymaliev and Saudi Minister Abdulrahman AlFadley, according to the Cabinet's press service, The Caspian Post reports citing Akipress.

The Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee discussed areas of bilateral cooperation, including development of energy sector, aviation, agriculture and water resources, transport, logistics, health care, education, science and culture.

Adylbek Kasymaliev underlined importance of bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Saudi Arabia, calling it "a reliable partner in the Islamic and Arab world."

He also highlighted the importance of the work of the Saudi Development Fund in Kyrgyzstan, which is implementing projects worth $330 million, including housing, infrastructure and social programs.

The parties then moved on to discussion of cooperation in the energy, mining, metallurgy and rare metals sectors, noting these sectors as "one of the promising areas of cooperation."

Adylbek Kasymaliev invited Saudi companies to further cooperate and implement joint investment projects.

Discussing the topic of cooperation in education, science and healthcare, Adylbek Kasymaliev proposed expanding direct ties between medical institutions and exchanging experience and advanced methods in medicine. He also proposed establishing twinning relations between the capitals of the two countries - Bishkek and Riyadh.

Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen AlFadleyi noted that joint projects, including those discussed within the framework of the Joint Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, will bring significant benefits to both Kyrgyzstan and Saudi Arabia.

"We strive to create a sustainable partnership based on mutual respect and interests," Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen AlFadley emphasized.

During the meeting, presentations from the ministries and departments of Kyrgyzstan were made, which contributed to a deeper understanding of current and future areas of cooperation.

The protocol of the IV meeting was signed, and in recognition of his merits, the Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Water Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - Co-Chairman of the Kyrgyz-Saudi Cooperation Committee Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen AlFadley, who has been co-chairing the Committee for 7 years, was awarded the Certificate of Merit of the Cabinet of Ministers.
