A military training jet crashed into a mountain near Shiraz, southern Iran, on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of both pilots aboard.

The incident occurred at 2:30 pm local time in a mountainous area close to Firouzabad, about 80 miles (130 km) south of Shiraz, The Caspian Post reports, citing Iranian media.

According to Vahid Shabani, the Director-General of Security and Law Enforcement in Fars Province, the crash has been confirmed by IRGC-affiliated Fars News.
