Uzbekistan and GGGI Sign 6.5 Million Dollar Green Economy Grant Agreement
This project assists the government in implementing economic reforms and creating the necessary conditions for stable economic development.
Ilkhom Norkulov, First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Helena McLeod, Deputy Director General and Head of the Green Growth Planning and Implementation Division at the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), The Caspian Post reports citing UzA.
The parties discussed the current state of the mutually implemented projects. In particular, the directions of cooperation within the framework of the assistance project on the implementation of the Paris Agreement by Uzbekistan and support for joint actions with the Republic of Korea were considered.
This project assists the government in implementing economic reforms and creating the necessary conditions for stable economic development. It is planned to provide assistance in attracting green investments, supporting initiatives for climate-adaptive agriculture and forestry, strategic environmental assessment, green financing, and the development of carbon markets.
The parties signed a framework agreement "On supporting the transition to a green economy", which ensured a $6.5 million grant allocation.
