Azerbaijan has attracted around $144 billion in foreign investment into its oil and gas sector to date, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov stated during the inaugural Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2025).
"Today, Azerbaijan has drawn around $144 billion in foreign investment into the oil and gas sector, becoming the first country in the region to open the Caspian Sea to international investors and establish energy corridors from the Caspian to the Mediterranean, Black, and Adriatic Seas," the minister said, The Caspian Post reports citing local media.
He emphasized that Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and the Caspian region are increasingly transforming into a unified geopolitical space.
"In particular, the forward-looking policy of President Ilham Aliyev, which has brought peace and stability to the South Caucasus, enhances the importance of the Middle Corridor through the implementation of the Zangazur Corridor and strengthens strategic partnerships with Central Asian states, playing a decisive role in this process. Alongside our historical fraternal ties, strategic partnerships, and important geostrategic position connecting East and West, North and South, energy remains a powerful unifying factor for our countries," Shahbazov added.
