Georgian Deputy Prime Minister Mamuka Mdinaradze has announced that he is leaving his government post and withdrawing from politics.

Mdinaradze made the announcement during a briefing, bringing an end to a political career that saw him become one of the most prominent figures in the ruling Georgian Dream party, Sputnik Georgia reports.

Since April 2026, he has served as State Minister for the Coordination of Law Enforcement Agencies. Before that, he headed Georgia’s State Security Service from September 2025.

Mdinaradze had been a member of parliament since 2016 and held several senior positions within Georgian Dream, including leader of the parliamentary majority, executive secretary of the party and vice speaker of parliament.
