Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said that former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, who has been convicted, has no prospects of returning to politics.

“There is no resource for a return when it comes to a direct corruption crime,” Kobakhidze said in response to a journalist’s question.

The Georgian prime minister said that what caused discomfort for the ruling team was not letters written by the former prime minister, but allegations of corruption related to his time in office.

“Discomfort is when a former prime minister ends up in prison on a specific charge. Corruption is very bad, and when a person is charged with corruption and that charge is confirmed, no statements or letters can wash it away,” Kobakhidze said.
