Number of Foreign Inmates in Georgia More Than Triples

Georgia has recorded a 3.3-fold increase in the number of foreign citizens held in its penitentiary institutions over the past five years.

This information is based on data from the Georgian National Statistics Office (Sakstat), The Caspian Post reports, citing Sputnik Georgia.

According to the figures, as of May 1, 2021, there were 530 foreign nationals in Georgian prisons, while by May 1, 2026, this number had risen to 1,762.
