A tanker was struck by an unknown projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Friday, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said.
According to UKMTO, the ship’s master reported that the tanker was hit at 1122 GMT while making an outbound transit through the strait, The Caspian Post reports.
The strike caused a small fire and a blackout aboard the vessel, the agency said.
The fire was later extinguished, and the vessel resumed its journey, it added.
No casualties or environmental impact were reported in connection with the incident, according to the agency.
Authorities are investigating the incident. UKMTO advised vessels transiting the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.
A supertanker caught fire after being struck in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, according to Iran's Fars news agency.
The tanker, which has a capacity of 2.5 million barrels, was travelling “illegally” through the strait when it was hit about eight kilometres (five miles) off the coast of Oman.
