The blast comes amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington over Iran’s recent crackdown on nationwide protests and its nuclear program. A separate gas explosion in Ahvaz reportedly killed four people.
Videos shared on social media showed debris-strewn streets and damaged vehicles outside the building. Officials denied reports that a Revolutionary Guard navy commander was targeted.
Bandar Abbas, Iran’s key port on the Strait of Hormuz, was also hit by a massive explosion last April that killed dozens. Experts warned that safety lapses may have contributed to the latest incident.
The incidents unfold as U.S. President Donald Trump warned of military action, sending an "armada" toward Iran, escalating fears in a country already shaken by economic unrest and deadly protests.
