Iran has executed a man accused of spying for Israel, escalating the already intense tensions between the two nations engaged in an ongoing shadow conflict.

The man, identified as Kurosh Keyvani, was found guilty of providing sensitive information and images of key locations in Iran to Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, The Caspian Post reports, citing foreign media.

Meanwhile, Israel's Defence Minister Israel Katz said on Wednesday that Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib was "eliminated" in a strike overnight. There has been no confirmation from Iran regarding Khatib's reported death.

In a parallel development, Iranian state television claimed that Iran launched missiles equipped with cluster warheads targeting Tel Aviv. The strike was described as retaliation for the killing of senior security figure Ali Larijani.

Meanwhile, at least eight people were killed in an airstrike on a courthouse complex in Larestan County in Iran’s Fars province on Wednesday, according to the country’s judiciary news agency Mizan. A senior provincial judicial official said the victims included a lawyer, six clients and a member of the court staff.

Iran also said its natural gas facilities connected to the South Pars gas field were attacked, according to state media reports cited by Al Jazeera. Authorities did not immediately provide details on the scale of damage or casualties following the reported strike.

The United Arab Emirates says it intercepted 13 ballistic missiles and 27 drones launched by Iran on Wednesday, according to the defense ministry. Since the war began on February 28, the UAE says it has downed hundreds of missiles and drones. Two Emirati soldiers and six civilians have been killed, with 158 others wounded, The Times of Israel reported.

Meanwhile, the United States military said it had conducted strikes targeting Iranian anti-ship cruise missile systems, which it described as a direct threat to maritime traffic in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. The operations were announced by the United States Central Command.
