Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a phone conversation to discuss developments in the South Caucasus.
During the call, Putin updated Pezeshkian on the main outcomes of the Russia-US summit held on August 15 in Anchorage, Alaska, The Caspian Post reports via Kremlin’s website.
Pezeshkian expressed support for ongoing diplomatic efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution in Ukraine.
The leaders also addressed current bilateral issues, Iran’s nuclear program, and regional developments in the South Caucasus. Both agreed to continue discussions at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in China on August 31-September 1.
