The US military’s Central Command has issued a statement saying no ships have entered or exited Iranian ports in the 48 hours since the US began enforcing a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, The Caspian Post reports, citing Al Jazeera.

Nine vessels complied with orders from US forces to turn around, it added.

The statement contradicted earlier reports by Iran’s Fars ‌News Agency, according to which a sanctioned Iranian supertanker had sailed through the strait towards Iran’s Imam Khomeini Port.

The report added that it was unclear whether the vessel capable of carrying 2 million barrels of crude had offloaded its cargo.
