Court Jails Kazakh Man for Dangerous Arson Attempt

A court in Astana, Kazakhstan, has sentenced a local resident to three and a half years in prison for attempting to set fire to a house with people inside.

According to case materials, the young man reportedly found the illegal “job” through Instagram, where he was offered $2,000 to carry out the attack, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Investigators say he prepared incendiary devices and threw them toward the house despite knowing that people were inside, putting lives at serious risk. The plan, however, was not carried through to completion.

The court found him guilty of attempted destruction of property. Taking into account a previous conviction, he was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison.
