Azerbaijan Airlines' plane that crashed near Aktau on December 25 sustained damage outside Kazakhstan's airspace, said Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev, who leads the government commission investigating the incident.
Bozumbayev confirmed that various expert analyses are underway, including medical-legal, histological, and DNA testing, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.
Additionally, comprehensive traceability, ballistic, and explosives expertise will be conducted to determine the timing and cause of the explosion, the deputy PM stated.
He noted that not all the bodies of the victims have been identified yet, as investigations continue.
As earlier reported, on December 25, an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed near Aktau. There were 67 people on board the crashed plane, including five crew members. As a result of the tragedy near Aktau, 38 people died, including all 6 citizens of Kazakhstan, leaving 29 survivors.
