Kazakhstan Uncovers Six New Oilfields

Kazakh Deputy Energy Minister Yerlan Akbarov has said that Kazakhstan officially recorded six new oilfields in 2025, boosting the nation’s energy resources by more than 127 million tons.

The newly discovered fields are primarily located in the western regions of Kazakhstan, specifically in Mangystau Region and Atyrau Region, which are key hubs for the country’s oil production, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Kazakhstan has 15 sedimentary basins, but only five are currently in active production. Geological surveys are ongoing in the remaining basins to evaluate their potential, signaling that more discoveries could be on the horizon.

The development of these new oilfields will largely be carried out by the Kazakh companies, reinforcing domestic expertise and capacity in the energy sector.
