A fire broke out at an oil refinery in Kazakhstan’s Kyzylorda region, with firefighters managing to prevent the blaze from spreading to three nearby storage tanks.

The incident occurred at a small-scale oil refinery on Mustafa Shokay Street, where two 60-tonne tanks containing a combined 120 tonnes of petroleum products caught fire.

When emergency crews arrived, the tanks were already engulfed in flames, creating a serious risk to three adjacent storage tanks. Firefighters quickly established an operational headquarters and deployed portable firefighting monitors and foam to protect the neighboring facilities.

Units from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, local authorities and other emergency services took part in the operation. A firefighting train was also brought to the scene.

After an intensive response, firefighters contained and fully extinguished the blaze, which covered an area of more than 200 square meters. The three nearby tanks were successfully protected from the fire.
