Kazakh Leader Congratulates Kyrgyz Counterpart on Historic UN Success

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has congratulated Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and the people of Kyrgyzstan following the country’s historic election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 term.

In a congratulatory telegram, Tokayev described the achievement as a landmark event not only for Kyrgyzstan but for the entire Central Asian region, highlighting the growing international influence of the country, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

According to the message, the election reflects Kyrgyzstan’s strong standing on the global stage and the effectiveness of its constructive foreign policy. Tokayev also noted that Kazakhstan had consistently supported Kyrgyzstan’s candidacy throughout the election process.

The Kazakh leader reaffirmed his country’s readiness to continue providing comprehensive support to help Kyrgyzstan successfully fulfill its responsibilities on the UN Security Council.

Tokayev expressed confidence that Kyrgyzstan would make a meaningful contribution to international peace and security during its two-year term and wished the country productive work within the United Nations’ most powerful decision-making body.

Kyrgyzstan’s election marks the first time in the nation’s history that it will serve as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, a milestone widely viewed as a major diplomatic achievement for both the country and the wider Central Asian region.
