Kazakh Senate Approves Readmission Agreement With Austria

The Kazakh Senate has approved the readmission and transit agreement between Kazakhstan and Austria.

The accord, signed in Astana in February 2025, aims to strengthen cooperation in managing illegal migration and ensure fast, safe, and orderly procedures for returning individuals who do not meet entry or stay requirements, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The agreement establishes a system of legal, administrative, and procedural measures to implement readmission and transit mechanisms. It also outlines procedures for dispute resolution, the conditions for entry into force, duration, and termination. Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Austria’s Federal Office for Immigration and Asylum will act as the competent authorities overseeing its implementation.

Kazakhstan has previously signed similar agreements with 21 countries, including Russia, Germany, France, Italy, and neighboring Central Asian states such as Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
