The Kazakh Defense Ministry has announced that search teams discovered wreckage from a missing military helicopter along with a body at a depth of 14 meters in Lake Sorbulak, Kazakhstan.
The EC-145 military helicopter vanished from radar on July 25 while flying over the Almaty Region with three crew members aboard. Intensive search operations have been ongoing since the disappearance, The Caspian Post reports via the ministry.
Using satellite imagery and mathematical modeling, specialists were able to narrow down the search area.
"Search groups and specialized equipment were deployed to the targeted zone. During underwater operations, Armed Forces personnel located partial wreckage of the aircraft and one body at approximately 14 meters depth. Identification procedures are currently in progress," the Defense Ministry said.
