Kazakhstan Incorporates Drones into Agriculture

Kazakhstan has acquired 53 agricultural drones from China. These unmanned aerial vehicles will be used for the chemical treatment of agricultural fields and for research purposes, The Caspian Post reports citing foreign media.

Experts suggest that the acquired equipment will reduce farmers’ costs for plant protection products and positively affect the harvest’s quality and volume. According to the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture, a roadmap for developing and integrating agricultural drones into farming is currently under development. The drones have proven their effectiveness - last year, they were tested on 2,000 hectares. The country also trains specialists to operate such equipment. Farmers and chemical treatment service providers are eligible for a 25% reimbursement on the cost of the drones.

"These drones will be utilized to combat locust pests. Seven drones will be employed in research, enhancing the quality of surveys and broadening their geographical reach. Additionally, these drones will enable us to perform chemical treatments in remote mountainous regions and other locations where conventional equipment cannot effectively perform such treatments," said Almat Suleimenov, head of the department at the state inspection committee in the agro-industrial complex.
