Kazakhstan ranked 38th out of 70 countries in the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking, falling four places compared with its 2025 position.

Published by the IMD World Competitiveness Center in June 2026, the ranking assesses countries based on four main criteria: economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency and infrastructure, The Caspian Post reports, citing Qazinform.

Kazakhstan’s rankings across the individual indicators were as follows:

- Economic performance: 57th

- Government efficiency: 23rd

- Business efficiency: 23rd

- Infrastructure: 43rd

Kazakhstan ranked 34th in 2025, while in 2022 it held 43rd place.

Despite its decline in the ranking, Kazakhstan remained ahead of several countries, including Spain in 39th place, Portugal in 40th, Poland in 41st, India in 44th, Italy in 45th, Türkiye in 57th and Argentina in 58th.

Singapore topped the 2026 ranking, followed by Hong Kong in second place and Switzerland in third. Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates also made up the top five.

The lowest positions were held by Mongolia, Botswana, Nigeria, Namibia and Venezuela.
