Kazakhstan and Tajikistan continue to strengthen their economic partnership, with annual bilateral trade turnover consistently exceeding $1 billion, keeping Kazakhstan among Tajikistan’s three largest trading partners.
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev made the statement during talks with visiting Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Astana, Qazinform reports.
Tokayev praised the positive momentum in bilateral relations, highlighting growing cooperation in trade, transport, business, education and culture.
He noted that both governments are actively implementing agreements reached between the two countries, contributing to an expanding range of traded goods, increased supplies and rising rail freight volumes.
Business ties have also gained momentum, with commercial agreements signed during business forums and trade missions being systematically implemented.
Tokayev said that cultural and humanitarian cooperation is another important dimension of the partnership. The two countries regularly organize reciprocal Days of Culture and unveil monuments honoring prominent historical figures.
A bust of Kazakh poet and philosopher Abai Kunanbayev has been unveiled in Dushanbe, while a bust of the renowned Tajik-Persian scholar Ibn Sina (Avicenna) has been installed in Astana.
The presidents also highlighted cooperation in education and youth policy, including forums bringing together young people, scientists and intellectuals.
Tokayev further emphasized the symbolic importance of the opening of Tajikistan’s new embassy complex in Astana, describing it as a reflection of the close and brotherly ties between the two nations.
