Kazakhstan’s Almaty Region is developing 283 investment projects valued at about 8 trillion tenge ($16.9 billion), which are expected to create more than 154,000 jobs, Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Kuantyrov said at a meeting of the Regional Investment Headquarters.
This is reflected in the statement published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Trend reported.
The meeting, attended by representatives of government bodies and the business community, focused on supporting investment projects, improving the investment climate and addressing issues faced by investors.
"Almaty Region is a strategically important agro-industrial, industrial and transport-logistics region of the country and one of the key growth points of Kazakhstan’s economy," Kuantyrov said.
During his visit to the region, the deputy minister reviewed the implementation of major investment projects, including facilities being developed by Carlsberg Central Asia, PepsiCo Central Asia, the Asia United Steel metallurgical complex, as well as the Almaty Ventilator Plant project implemented jointly with LG Electronics and Hi Air Korea.
The authorities emphasized the importance of further coordination between central and local government bodies and investors to ensure the timely implementation of projects, create new jobs and strengthen the industrial capacity of the region.
The investment portfolio of Almaty Region is currently being supported through the National Digital Investment Platform and targeted mechanisms designed to assist investors throughout project implementation. The Regional Investment Headquarters also reviewed measures aimed at improving conditions for business activity and accelerating the launch of new production facilities in the region.
