Kazakhstan Set to Build Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Plant

Kazakhstan is planning to establish a lithium-ion battery recycling plant in its capital city of Astana.

According to the police department of Astana, the number of electric vehicles in the city stands at 908 and continues to rise, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazinform.

The environmental protection and nature management department of the administration office of Astana said in a statement that lithium-ion batteries undergo primary processing and being stored on the territory of the specialized enterprise KazEcoTech within the Astana - a new city special economic zone.

The enterprise seeks to build a lithium-ion battery recycling plant in the future.

In an effort to process hazardous waste, it’s planned to launch a lithium-ion battery recycling plant on the territory pf the enterprise. The project will be implemented after funds are secured from the Damu entrepreneurship development fund, said the department.
