Kazakhstan’s national flag has been crowned the most beautiful in the world in a large online tournament organized by users of Reddit.

The competition followed a playoff-style format, with participants voting in successive rounds to determine the best national flag design, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Kazakhstan’s sky-blue banner-featuring a golden sun, a soaring steppe eagle, and a traditional ornamental pattern-advanced confidently through each stage.

In the final, it defeated the flag of Kiribati, while earlier overcoming Seychelles in the semifinals. Bhutan, known for its dragon emblem, secured third place.

Announcing the results, the tournament organizer wrote: “Kazakhstan is our champion! You all have voted and have decided it's the best flag in the world!”

Users also praised the outcome, highlighting the flag’s calming color scheme and elegant design, with many calling it one of the most visually appealing national symbols.

Designed by artist Shaken Niyazbekov, the flag was officially adopted in 1992 after the country gained independence. Its elements symbolize peace, freedom, and the cultural heritage of the steppe.

Earlier, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed the importance of respecting national symbols, noting that their use is governed by law and must be treated with care and responsibility.
