Kazakhstan, US Advance Strategic Partnership in High-Level Astana Talks

Kazakhstan and the US have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening strategic cooperation following high-level talks in Astana focused on investment, innovation, critical minerals, and regional connectivity.

Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev met with Special Envoy of the President of the United States for South and Central Asian Affairs - U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, to discuss a broad range of bilateral and regional issues, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

The discussions centered on expanding economic and investment cooperation, as well as strengthening partnerships in innovation, artificial intelligence, education, and science.

The two sides also explored opportunities for collaboration in transport and logistics infrastructure and the development of critical mineral supply chains-an area of growing strategic importance for both countries.

Kosherbayev highlighted Kazakhstan’s ongoing constitutional reforms and economic modernization agenda, emphasizing that Astana views Washington as a key partner in attracting foreign investment and advanced technologies.

A significant part of the talks focused on implementing agreements reached during the November 2025 White House meeting between Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Donald Trump.

Officials discussed practical steps to advance those commitments and strengthen trade and economic ties between the two countries.

Kazakhstan also expressed appreciation for the US participation in the upcoming C5+1 Critical Minerals Dialogue, a platform designed to enhance cooperation between Washington and Central Asian nations in securing strategic mineral resources.

The sides further highlighted the importance of a planned business roundtable involving American and Central Asian companies, which is expected to create new opportunities for trade, investment, and regional economic integration.

Ambassador Sergio Gor thanked the Kazakh government for its hospitality and reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to maintaining active dialogue and practical cooperation across a wide range of bilateral and regional issues.

The meeting concluded with both sides confirming their intention to further strengthen the enhanced strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the US, reflecting growing cooperation in economic development, technology, and regional stability.
