Kazakh Vice Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov has met with US Ambassador Julie Stufft to discuss deepening bilateral energy and economic cooperation.
The talks focused on regional energy security, stable export routes, and the strategic role of US companies Chevron and ExxonMobil in flagship projects including Tengiz, Kashagan, and Karachaganak, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Both sides explored the development of Kazakhstan’s coal sector, with plans for downstream processing and coal-to-chemicals projects producing ammonia, urea, synthetic gas, and diesel fuel. Clean-coal initiatives to boost efficiency and reduce environmental impact were highlighted.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to ongoing dialogue under Strategic Energy Cooperation, enhancing investment opportunities and reinforcing energy partnerships between Kazakhstan and the US.
