International cryptocurrency exchange Kraken plans to enter Kazakhstan’s digital asset market following a cooperation agreement with the country’s Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development.
The ministry signed a memorandum of cooperation with the company on the sidelines of the AI & Digital Bridge 2026 forum, according to Kazinform.
Kraken has already received In-Principle Approval from the regulator of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC). The preliminary approval marks one of the steps toward obtaining authorization to operate fully in Kazakhstan.
Under the agreement, the parties plan to promote integration between the traditional banking system and the digital asset market, as well as launch educational initiatives focused on blockchain technology.
Kraken’s potential entry into Kazakhstan is expected to strengthen the country’s position as a regional hub for digital finance.
