Kyrgyzstan Gains Access to China's Major Stores via Kazakhstan

Kyrgyzstan is taking a major step toward the Chinese market as new cooperation with Kazakhstan opens the door to China’s largest retail networks. The initiative is set to shorten export routes for Kyrgyz producers, especially in the agribusiness and organic sectors, by giving them direct access to established distribution channels and proven export mechanisms-marking a shift from pilot exports to scalable, market-ready trade with China.

A presentation of the acceleration program by Kazakhstan’s National Association of Cooperatives and Other Forms of Economic Communities (NACOFEC) was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry building in Kyrgyzstan, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The organization-known for developing export corridors in Kazakhstan-presented its capabilities in Bishkek for the first time. NACOFEC offered Kyrgyz entrepreneurs direct access to one of China’s largest retail networks, China Co-op.

The event brought together representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, the Kyrgyz Export Center under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, agribusiness leaders, and export-oriented entrepreneurs.

A key outcome of the meeting was the announcement that mechanisms already proven within NACOFEC’s strategic partnership with the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (ACFSMC) will be launched in Kyrgyzstan. As a result, Kyrgyz producers of organic goods will be able to place their products on dedicated shelves across a retail network uniting more than 341,000 outlets throughout China.

Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Avazbek Kerimbayev said that access to the Chinese market opens new opportunities for the national economy.

“Everyone is striving to enter China’s market, and Kyrgyzstan has every chance to secure its niche. Our Kazakh partners, with vast export experience, are ready to share knowledge and help establish laboratories in Kyrgyzstan. Building supply chains to China can become a powerful driver of economic growth,” he noted.

NACOFEC President Kazybek Shaikh emphasized the importance of regional integration.

“We have brought a proven export technology to Kyrgyzstan. Kazakhstan’s experience shows that uniting small and medium-sized producers into sustainable export chains is the only path to success in a market as large as China. Kyrgyz products are unique for their environmental quality, and our goal is to ensure a ‘green corridor’-from certification to the shelf at China Co-op. This is a first but decisive step toward creating a unified Central Asian organic brand,” he said.

Participants agreed that adopting tested Kazakh practices will help Kyrgyz businesses shorten their path to the Chinese market and avoid common export pitfalls.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a cooperation memorandum aimed at promoting Kyrgyz producers in international markets and developing the country’s cooperative, production, distribution, and financial infrastructure.
