Local residents in the Taskala district of the West Kazakhstan region have reported another drone crash.
This marks the second time an unmanned aircraft has entered the airspace of the West Kazakhstan region."This time, a more serious-looking drone flew into our territory," the report says, The Caspian Post reports citing foreign media.
According to operational information, a call from locals in the village of Atameken about the location of an unknown object (presumably a crashed drone) was received by the Taskala district police department on March 18 at 17:35. Bomb disposal experts from Uralsk were sent to the crash site of the drone.
"The length of the object is 300 centimeters. Police officers from the Taskala district police department were sent to the discovery site. Additionally, staff from the district administration and emergency services from the village of Taskala were also dispatched from the district center," the statement said.
"Externally, the object resembled not just some abstract drone, but a specific one - 'Geran-2,' the Russian version of the Iranian kamikaze drone 'Shahed-136.' And, actually, it was indeed it. Because... it was written there. Photos and videos of the 'object' taken on the evening of March 18 were published by Kazinform agency. On it, the word 'Geran' written in Cyrillic and the drone's tail number - 18358 - can be clearly seen," Orda.kz wrote.
Earlier, an incident involving the crash of an unknown aircraft occurred in the village of Uyaly in Bokeyorda district of West Kazakhstan region. On February 18, locals discovered a fallen drone there with a length of 120 cm. The distinctive features of its design and equipment point to a Russian drone, the 'Orlan-10.'
The regional police have not yet provided any specific information about the incident.
A criminal case has been launched into the illegal production, purchase, or use of specialized technical means for covertly obtaining information. The necessary expert examinations have been appointed, police told journalists.
