A Sukhoi Su-30SM fighter jet crashed in Karaganda Region, Kazakhstan on February 25 during a scheduled training flight.
The crew ejected in time, and both pilots survived the incident. They are currently under medical supervision, officials said. Authorities quickly secured and cordoned off the crash site, confirming that there is no threat to local residents or nearby infrastructure, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The Ministry of Defense has formed a special commission to investigate the cause and circumstances of the crash. The panel is led by the head of the Flight Safety Department and includes aviation specialists from relevant services.
Once the investigation is complete, officials will issue a legal assessment and procedural decision based on the findings.
