A court in North Kazakhstan Region has sentenced a 53-year-old woman from the village of Beskol after a shocking murder case that involved her living for several days in the same home where the victim’s body was hidden under a bed.
The incident occurred when a drunk acquaintance visited the woman’s home in Kyzylzhar District. An argument escalated, and the woman struck him with an axe, later concealing his body under the bed after realizing he had died, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
She continued her normal routine for several days-going to work, interacting with neighbors, and sleeping in the same room where the body was hidden.
The case was uncovered after the victim’s family reported him missing. Police later traced his last known location to the woman’s home, where they discovered a strong odor and eventually found the body during a search of the bedroom.
During the trial, prosecutors rejected her claim that she only intended to scare the victim. The court also noted her previous convictions, including for homicide, and classified the case as dangerous repeat offending.
She was sentenced to 14 years in a high-security penal colony and ordered to undergo compulsory alcohol addiction treatment. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed.
