Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev met with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Paul Kapur, according to Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Ministry.

The meeting took place on August 10. The sides discussed Kyrgyzstan - USA relations, further development of bilateral cooperation, sanctions-related issues, as well as visa procedures and the introduction of visa bond requirements, 24.kg reported.

Particular attention was paid to cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the United States in international organizations.

The U.S. side congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028 and expressed its readiness for close cooperation on international and regional issues.

Kulubaev and Kapur also discussed upcoming contacts and the schedule of bilateral events. The sides reaffirmed their interest in continuing political dialogue and strengthening Kyrgyzstan - USA relations.

Paul Kapur is an American political scientist and expert on security issues in South Asia. He took office as U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs in October 2025. Before joining the diplomatic service, Kapur was a professor at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, where he focused on international security, nuclear deterrence and the politics of South Asian countries.

At the U.S. Department of State, he oversees U.S. relations with countries in South and Central Asia, including Kyrgyzstan.
