The Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security has announced the arrest of a man suspected of ties to international terrorist organizations.
He is reportedly a supporter of establishing a “caliphate” in Central Asia, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
While working abroad, the suspect came under the influence of individuals involved in financing terrorist activities.
The man had planned to travel to an active conflict zone overseas to join the leader of an international terrorist organization responsible for attacks in CIS countries.
Investigative and operational measures are ongoing.
